The observer and the observed
Whether a thing can be described without specifying the position it is described from.
The analogy that started this was mundane. A keypad or directional control moves you through predetermined paths. Touch lets you move directly to a location on the surface. The object has not changed. What changed is the relationship available between the observer and the object.
Which raises harder questions. Can dimension be completely separated from observation? Can something be meaningfully described without specifying the perspective it is available from? Does a system possess one description independent of every interface through which it can be experienced?
I am treating this as exploratory philosophy. It is not settled mathematics and I am not presenting it as physics.
