Trust accumulates
Not binary, not permanent, and it can unlock capability.

Trust is usually implemented as a gate: verified or not. But it behaves much more like a quantity that builds through behaviour, unlocks capability, reduces friction — and can be lost.
Treated that way it becomes a design surface. You can put the friction next to the risky action instead of at the front door, let good behaviour earn additional opportunity, and stop charging every user for the behaviour of a few.
