Coherence matters more than protecting an earlier conclusion.

An observation creates a question. The question makes a distinction. The distinction reveals a relationship. The relationship suggests a rule. The rule produces a model. The model meets a counterexample and gets narrowed or rebuilt.
The first explanation does not need to survive. Where a position here has changed, the earlier one stays visible beside it — the change is the evidence of thinking, and deleting it would hide the only part that proves any happened.
